Seneca County Committee endorses Tracy Mitrano for Congress

The Seneca County Democratic Committee has endorsed Tracy Mitrano as the candidate to run against Republican Tom Reed in this November’s election. As Committee chairwoman Susan Ottenweller announced, “The Seneca County Democratic Committee is thrilled to provide our unanimous endorsement of Tracy Mitrano for our next Representative from the 23rd U.S. Congressional District. Tracy has the skills, commitment, experience and intelligence to fully represent all of us in the district. We look forward to helping Tracy achieve this goal.” She added that some members of the committee have already been working for Mitrano and the committee still has a good deal more volunteer energy to put into the campaign.

Mitrano ran for the seat in 2018 and since then has been working full time to build her presence and enhance voter understanding of her views in the eleven counties in the district. In addition to the Seneca County support, she has been endorsed by the committees or executive committees in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Ontario, Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins, and Yates counties. At the national level, Mitrano has received the endorsements of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand & Off the Sidelines PAC, the National Organization of Women, the National Women’s Political Caucus, LPAC, and the Victory Fund.

Mitrano responded enthusiastically to the committee’s decision. “It's an honor to be unanimously endorsed tonight by the Seneca County Democratic Committee. Seneca County is home to so many great supporters and organizers, to hard-working farmers, especially dairy and soybean farmers, and to passionate environmentalists vigilant in their activism around the proposed landfill at the former Seneca Army Depot and active in protecting two of our beautiful Finger Lakes. Thank you for your support tonight and every night through to election night in November.”
